As most of the baseball world knows, The Red Sox have never been on the good side of MLB trades. here are some stars that they traded for average or below-average players:
Babe Ruth, Jon Lester & Most recently Mookie Betts.
Nobody truly knows what the deal is with the Red Sox always being on the bad side of trades they have lost so many players that are in their prime only to gain minor league farm players & lesser-known average players it almost seems like they care about quantity over quality in players.
Mookie Betts is not your average player, he is one of the best current players in the league
standing next to Mike Trout, Nolan Arenado & Francisco Lindor. Mookie is a player with many accomplishments during his 6-year career for the Red Sox. He helped his team get their way into the 2018 world series but that's just the start of it. In 2018 he not only helped his team to the 2018 world series, but also became the first player to win the Silver Slugger, MVP, Golden Glove and Batting Title all in the same season
The reason the Red Sox Traded Mookie was that he was just too expensive. Along with that, They have wanted to gain younger talent for awhile. If they kept paying Mookie his former salary the red sox would have indefinably fallen past the luxury tax threshold. What is weird about the whole situation is that the Red sox are one of the wealthiest teams in the MLB
($3.2B in revenue) So money shouldn't be an issue
In my opinion, The Red Sox shouldn't have traded Mookie. They got the bad side of the deal and got a few unknown players in exchange for a star. tell us your opinions on the situation in the comments Down below
This is the Redsox way. They let Rodger Clemons go because they said he was in the twilight of his career. He went on to win 2 cy young awards and a world series the next 4 years.
