Hi everyone! This is our first post in a while because of Covid-19 and the pause of all Sports, Professional or Not. So then we had this idea, to give virtual tours of the newest & coolest stadiums & arenas! For our first post in this series we are doing Globe Life Field
Hot summer games have always discouraged fans from seeing their favorite Texas team play, since the park was built in the early 90`s. The previous owner had the option to add a retractable roof, but rejected the idea of it Preferring a retro - Style ballpark.
Even though the team spent well above $50 million upgrading the park during the early 2010`s they announced mid season in 2016 that they would build this $1.2 billion dollar stadium along with a outdoor shopping center and restaurants.
The city of Arlington shared the cost of the Stadium with the Rangers, along with a contract keeping them in the city through the 2053 Season Arlington used a half cent sales tax, 2% hotel Tax & a 5% car tax. In late august 2017 Globe Life Insurance renewed their naming rights for the stadium.
The stadium it self seats 40,300. inside there are also 2 huge video boards, a turf playing field, along with some fun Easter eggs hidden throughout the park including
The left field power alley is 372 feet it symbolizes the Rangers first year in Arlington (1972)
The Center field (straightaway) is 407 feet for Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez's #7
The Left field line is 329 feet for Adrian Beltre's #29
Deepest distance of field is 410 feet that symbolizes Michael Young's #10
The distance of home plate to the VIP suites is 42 feet a tribute to Jackie Robinson's #42
A distance marker at 334 feet that symbolizes Nolan Ryan's #34
Even with the season & grand opening postponed, Texans are still very excited for the new stadium to open not only its doors, but more opportunities for fans to enjoy the game up close.
